Ten years ago, we left the family vacation and came home for a "work issue" that we needed to take care of. Little did our family know, but we waited by the phone all morning after an 8am appointment for blood work.
After years of trying, we were left sitting by the phone for almost 4 hours waiting for the call. We practiced answering the phone: pick up, know it was the doctor's office, put the call on speaker, hear the news together. Prepare to move forward.
I'm not sure what I expected at that point. Nothing else had worked, why would this?
We stared at the phone and the hefty credit card bill bedside it; we would have to pay the balance whether the news was "yes" or "no".
Finally, the phone rang.
We picked up. Tried to put it on speaker phone. Almost hung up on the nurse.
Then she said she had news for us. The test was.....
Positive.
As in "yes".
That "yes" that we first saw as an 8 celled embryo is now sitting beside me as we just spend a beautiful, quiet day together.
It's been a decade. But he's been with us a lifetime.
aaaww. making me weepy with joy!
