Heading into the quarter round.....

....that i,s the quarter and trim round, which is quite similar to the final round, which will be just in time for the final round, that is the Superbowl on Sunday!  OK, enough sports jargon; here's the scoop.

This --------------------------------------------> is all I have left to lay of flooring!  And yes, two heavy pieces of furniture are in my way, so I may have to wait until the muscle arrives home tonight to get to that.  I've managed to keep sliding it over until it's pinned in the corner, but I don't want to damage the cork ( or my back) trying to scooch it over by myself.  I was going to do some trim work, but of course I left my drill battery unplugged and have a dead drill.

Carter has been upset that I'm doing so much of the work while he's at school, so I may have to wait anyway to let him lay the last few planks; I think that would be a great memory for an eight year old.  He's taken great pride in the help he's provided so far, which is just a great added bonus to DIY projects I do.

I'm still not quite sure how I'm going to tie the flooring to the metal strip at the sliding glass door, so I'm off to do some research.

  1. The tapping block is just a hard piece of rubber block that you tap on (instead of hitting the plank itself). It also had edges that fit around the notches of the planks so you don't do any damage to the joints. I snapped a piece to the prior row, then tapped it to the right to click to the exisitng row.
I tried your method; putting together a whole row left to right and then trying to align it with the previous row; I had NO luck with that! I think I would have needed another set of hands to make that work.

  2. See with your method that's what I could never get to work...I've done 3 bedrooms now my way-which was a maximum of 13 feet long and involved lots of swearing and frustration to be honest..obviously I'm missing something with your way, and you're right you'd have to have 2 sets of hands my way...if I ever do a longer row I'm obviously going to have to figure out your way! Re: joining the flooring to the patio door, what about a flat wood or metal strip? Like the kind for transitioning between room...or how about a strip of calking? Handyman solutions are a special interest of mine...everything has a solution!
