oops! I did it again......

I didn't climb on the table again, but I leaned too hard....

A few weeks ago, I had the great idea to climb on my very old dining room table to hang a curtain.  Well, very old dining room tables aren't made to hold my (ahem) weight.  Not that's it that much weight, but still.  Not a good idea.  As my very wise almost-nine-year-old informed me when I called for help, "I don't think we made a good decision there, did we?"  Wonder where he heard that??

Anyway, leaning again, another leg gave on me. Oops.

A nice smathering of wood glue....
 ...pre-drill some screw holes....

...hold and drill....and I have a leg that is now attached to my table.
The hardest part of drilling into a very hard wood (which this is, whatever is it) is that it requires a brute force to drill that I don't have in my mom arms.  Drilling to the side or at an awkward angle does not work for me.

What does work, it turning the piece so you are dilling straight down: Use gravity, and your own body weight to get behind the drill.  I have a lot more success this way.  Sometimes I am pushing down so hard on the drill with my body weight I'm almost on my toes, but it works.

I'm leaving the table to dry overnight, but then I should have a very sturdy table again.

As long as no one gets the bright idea on climb on it again....

Speaking of weight, I asked Carter to climb on the scale the other night to see if he's gained his weight back after the tonsillectomy.  I asked what the number was, and he said "mom, you shouldn't ask a man what his weight is."

I wonder where he gets this stuff from??
