There is a timeout on the field!

(It's getting close to the Super Bowl, which is my deadline for finishing this project (and testing it out with 15 or 20 of my favorite young people, so you'll have to bear with the sports analogies a bit longer.)

A penalty flag has been thrown on the field: old sliding glass door, cracking concrete underneath: FOUL!  I can't lay planks on that!  Fifteen yard penalty, loss of a day, and off to shop for a new door tomorrow.
It's not a shocker; we knew this cheap less expensive stock-off-the-shelf type door would have to go when we moved in; that was eight years ago.

We knew the trim outside needed to be replaced, but the guy said not to replace the floor (who was that guy?) until you did the door first.  Oops.  We didn't listen; we heard, but ignored it for years since we never used this space.  It just wasn't a priority.

Then tore into this project.  And then today it hit: Oh yeah, that door...that trim....that guy that told us....  I can't lay floor over that cracking concrete. Well, I can, but it will just have to be torn out later to replace the door.

So off to do some shopping tomorrow; the planks will be laid 99%, trim has started, and it will look pretty good this weekend despite that little 4 inch bare concrete at the end.  And hopefully in a few weeks we will have not only a beautiful new floor finished, but a beautiful new door to set off the room.
