SuperBowl Success!

If last night wasn't a test of a new floor, I'm not sure what was. A bunch of happy and fun kids Wii danced, played and ran across the floor and it held up perfectly.  I'm tickled! I made my Super Bowl Goal to have the floor finished in time, and even though it's not "finished" with all the trim work, it was usable enough and open for business.  Success.

This will always be the Super Bowl halftime to be remembered.  Of course you know I've spent most of my time in the basement these past two weeks: project ready and room: check.  Bathrooms cleaned: check. First floor cleaned and ready: check. Dinner heated: check.  Kids here, no snow: check. Everything was a go and going perfectly.  All systems GO.

Until: halftime.  Halftime, if you're not a huge football fan, is a key part of the big game.  And we were excited....we had to see what Madonna had in store for us.  Here she goes: get ready: CABLE GOES OUT!  Serious screams erupted...how can cable go out during the Super Bowl and at halftime??

We have a second TV upstairs that isn't on a cable box; sometimes that one works when the "newer" system goes down.  I ran upstairs and checked, and sure enough, TV worked.  So I yelled: "Hey everyone: Come....."  and I stopped.  Come where? To the one room that is a total disaster in the house? My bedroom, with covers everywhere, dirty laundry on the floor, piles....well, you get the idea.  But it was halftime, and these kids really wanted to see the show.

So I furiously threw and shut doors and piled and shoved, and finished my sentence "....upstairs. Now ...Run!"  And they did.  We had kids piled on our bed, in the floor, three youth workers standing around my disaster of a bedroom watching the show.  We kept the lights off for ambiance (ie then no one could see as much of the disaster that it truly was).  Halftime over, and cable came on just in time for the second half.  Downstairs....back in the light.

Fun. Funny. Memories. Kids. Friends: Success.

Excuse me now while I go do laundry.
