ModPodge hodge podge

I love Mod Podge. I love finding new ideas for things to create using Mod Podge**.
A few years ago I saw this cute fall idea: I printed a letter in a font I liked, then enlarged it to a size that worked for my pumpkin; modge-podge it on, and you have a cute fall decoration or teacher gift.

This was not an originial idea on my part! I think I first saw it from Kim @ Three Peanuts... this trio of "boo" pumpkins is so cute! (http://www.threepeanuts.blogspot.com)/

Then I moved on to coasters and trivets:

This is a trivet test for my MOPS group this week where we are making coasters....I should have great pictures as these moms are so creative, and we always end up with such a variety of ideas!

To make coasters or trivets: I bought these tiles from Lowes; they run as little as $0.37 each. \

Apply a thin coast of modpodge, then apply the paper you have chosen; and another thin coat of MP on top trying to keep out bubbles and fold.

Pick thinner papers (card stock will not work!). I gently ripped the edges to give a softer look. I let that dry, then another thin coat or two of MP. Since coasters will get wet, I applied multiple thin coats of a waterproof spray acrylic (I used Krylon acrylic spray) for a finished, water resistant coaster.

Now my new hodge-podge ModPodge idea: A family collage.

This is my test run on an 8x10 art canvas:
One piece is a random torn piece of scrapbook paper; the words are printed and enlarged (part of our last name) from the computer; the third is my first grade school picture in a dress handmade by my mom. (I know, cute. It was the last year before I had the big ugly plastic glasses; shout out moms if you are a child of the 60's who got stuck with these!)

The printed words ran a bit, but I didn't mind the effect. The scrapbook paper would be a good background, depending on where I decide this will hang. The picture is a black and white, and I just made a copy on my printer. That turned out well, and I was pleased with the look.

Now to hunt down other pictures of Brad and Carter, the kitties and pup, and copy them as black and white, play with a bunch of pictures, backgrounds and fonts and see what happens.

Have you ModPodged? Show us your projects!

** ModPodge is a brand name product produced by Plain Enterprises, Inc., Norcross, GA. I buy my ModPodge at Michaels and JoAnn Fabrics. It is a waterbased sealer, glue and finish product as copied from its front label.
